Position
Summary:
This position is responsible for the daily health management for all animals at the shelter.
This position includes overseeing the handlers and their daily functions and reporting any problems to the Assistant Director and or Shelter Director.
Essential Functions:
Performance of health assessments at intake.
Coordination with veterinarians regarding medicine and spay/neuter appointments.
Administer proper medications prescribed by veterinarian.
Record any behavior issues observed during initial exam and input into Petpoint.
Communicate the medical status to shelter staff.
Ensure all animals in the Adoption Center have complete files including all medical paperwork and intake information.
Ensure medical protocols are followed consistently.
Monitor daily the health and welfare of all the animals in the shelter.
Identify and report any animals in medical distress.
Desired Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
Excellent communications skills to liase with upper management and clients.
Ability to perform duties which may require moderate lifting/carrying/handling and exposure to animals of an unknown nature.
Working knowledge of animal body language.
Minimum
Qualifications:
Must be 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or GED.
Possession of a valid driver's license and demonstrated safe driving record.
Minimum 2 years of proven and successful experience in shelter operations.
